Abstract


Textbook is the most important element in the institutional
education. It is the second teacher and private tutor to a student.
Verily, when the teacher is less competent in his or her subject, the
textbook replaces itself as the monopoly teacher for a student. So
the textbook should be written with a various outstanding
characteristics. Thus the textbook varies from other general or
research books. In this short article we have described the
characteristics of the textbook generally, then the important
characteristics of the textbook for Arabic language teaching &
learning in the institutional education especially in Bangladesh.
