الرثاء في دیوان "سعاد" لزکي قنصل : دراسة تحلیلیة

Abstract

Zaki Consol (1916-1994) is one of the prominent Syrian Arab
expatriate poets. His parents migrated to Córdoba, a city in the
center of Argentina, before his birth. He was born there and
accomplished his elementary education. Although he was born
overseas and grew up in a foreign culture, he was able to
master in Arabic and Spanish language to an outstanding level
by his own effort. Zaki Consol gained popularity among the
expatriate Arab people in Argentina because of his exceptional
merit in composing Arabic poetry. In his poems patriotism,
weal and woe of life in overseas, the beauty and magnificence
of nature, human love, apperception etc. have been sketched
out lively. When his 8 months old daughter passed away, he
became extremely upset and composed an exquisite elegy. This
elegy spread out throughout the Arab community in Argentina
and to the Arab world within a very short period after its
publication. Being charmed people of all ages began to recite
the verses of his elegy in the form of songs. In this article the
researcher has tried to evaluate the literary value of this
amazing elegy after describing the poet’s brief biography.
