Abstract

Al-Buhtury was a famous poet of Abbasid era of Arabic
Literature. He worked in all the known branches of Arabic
poetry. He wrote excellent encomiums, love poems, elegies
and satires. However, he not only excelled in describing nature
and natural sceneries, he was also the first to describe buildings
and palaces in Arabic Poetry side by side. These poems were in
rhymic verses, aesthetically satisfying and highly imaginative.
In his poems he described natural sceneries; rains, air, gardens,
flowers, the spring season, green plants and trees, water spring,
wild animals like horses, tigers, lions etc. He also described the
palaces of the Abbasid Caliphs as well as their ponds, urban
sceneries, wells etc. Through these he attained the position of
one of the most eminent poets of the Abbasid era. This article
is a humble endeavor to highlight this aspect through his
creative works. His mastery is sketching natural beauties and
constructive bounties which will be blinking in this short
presentation. His style and fashion of unveiling natural beauties
was a unique dimension in the Arabic poetry.
