ادب الأطفال : نشاته وتطورہ
Abstract
Arabic literature is one of the richest and most developedliteratures of the world. Like the literature of other languages
Arabic literature is also written for both adult and young
readers. Literature for children and juveniles is not a new
invention. The pioneers of this field were the ancient
Egyptians. In the Islamic period Arabic literature for children
and juveniles was based on the stories of the prophets. In the
Umayyad and Abbasid periods much attention was paid to the
domain of children literature. In the modern period, many
writers and poets have come forward to fill this gap. The first
Arab writer who emerged in this field is Rafa`ah Al-Tahtabi
and later the great Egyptian poet Ahmed Shawqi enriched the
field to the full. But the real pioneer and contributor to Arabic
children literature is Kamil Kilani. He is called the Father of
Arabic children literature. Following these writers many
writers have come forward to contributing to this field.
