Abstract

The most prominent and influential Arabic poet Abu at-Tayyib
Ahmad ibn al-Husayn al-Mutanabbi al-Kindi (915 - 965AD) was
born in Kindi of Iraq on 23 September, 915 AD. He is famous by
the nickname Al-Mutanabbi. He is considered as one of the
greatest poets in Arabic literature, not only in the Abbaside age but
also over all the ages from the age of Jahili to our modern age. He
was a poet by nature who started writing poetry when he was nine
years old. Then he continued his writing and left a lot of poetry in
Arabic. The collection of his poetry has been published by the
name of Diwaan al-Mutabbi. Many of his literary works have been
translated into various foreign languages in the world. We know
that Al-Mutanabbi has written in all branches of Arabic poem. But
the main trend of his poetry is al-Madh (praise), ash-Shaza`ah
(courage), al-Hamasah (enthusiasm), al-Fakhr (pride) al-Hikmah
(wisdom), falasifah al-hayah (philosophy of life). So, I have
selected these branches from his poetry to study and explain. I
believe that the output of this article will be very helpful to our
learners and researchers.
