Abstract

Unification of Islamic holidays in the eve of festivals and ritual
events, which are absolutely related with the Hilal-crescent, is a
burning issue of Islamic Ummah at present time, specially in the
countries of Indian Sub-continent. With the wonderful
development of information technology, the world has become as
a village and it contributed to solve many problems. This article
has taken an attempt to prove that beginning of month of
Ramadhan and observance of Eid and other events on the same
date of Hijri month is a will of our sacred Shariah in the light of
the holy Quran and holy Tradition of our beloved Prophet
(pbuh). This paper has also proved that the astronomical
calculation, information transmission system and other scientific
provisions are quite in favor of implementation of this
unification.
The OIC International Islamic Fiqh Academy, which is regarded
as the highest authority of Fatwa in the world, has taken a
decision to unify the beginning of Hijri month. The decision was
widely accepted and applauded by Muslim scholars. But some
quarters have some confusions in this context. The article has
also explored the core reasons of differences of opinions in this
regard and tried to eliminate the misunderstandings and
misinterpretations. This intensive research work also clarified the
fact, why all the four eminent Imams of four renowned Mazhabs
(School of Thoughts) rejected the Hadith of Kuraib (R.) as an
evidence of accepting local sighting in same horizon, along with
an endeavor to answer to some other implied quarries of readers.
