Abstract

The subject of this article attempts to investigate the subject
matters and the characteristics of Islamic poetry of modern
Arabic literature. One of the richest fields of Modern Arabic
literature is the Islamic poetry. The title of my article is
“Islamic Poetry in Modern Arabic Literature”. By this study I
would like to show the position of Islamic poetry in modern
Arabic literature and their subject matters and characteristics. I
also want to show the feelings and emotions of the Islamic
poets of modern age. How did Islamic thought change the ideas
of poets? This study will identify the different categories of
Islamic poetry. Its most important subject matters were; ‘Ad-
Da’wa Al-Islamiyyah, Al-Maw’ija Al- Hasanah, Al-Madh An
Nababiyyah, Al-Hikmah, Al-Qadiyyah Al-Filistiniyyah, Naqd
Afkaril Garbiyyin, Didduj Julm, Mukafaha wa Munafaha ‘anil
Islam, Hamdul Mutasaddiqin, Ar-Rasa lil biladil mafqudah, Ar-
Rasa lil Khilafah AL-Islamiyyah etc. The article will show the
impact of intellectual, social and cultural aspects of Islam on
the poetry of Islamic poets of modern age. By this study, we
will learn some precious Arab heritage that are specialized in
talking about the Islamic poetry of modern Arabic literature.
And it will help the students, teachers, writers, readers and
researchers to get the instructions of the historical background,
meaning, origin and subject matters of Islamic Arabic poetry of
modern period with special reference to its main contributors.
