Bangladesh is the 3rd largest Muslim country and the seventh or
eighth largest country of the world in terms of population. The majority of
the people of this country are practicing Muslims having a strong interest
in learning Islamic knowledge. As a matter of fact, Bangladesh has many
institutions dedicated to Islamic education, which host number of Islamic
scholars and huge number of students. Although Arabic language is used
as a medium of instruction for understanding the knowledge of Islam, it is
not used for delivering speech or communication. So, the teachers and
students are very much expert in Arabic reading skill. On the contrary,
they are poor in the rest three skills i.e. listening, speaking and writing.
This article focuses on the stages of language taught in Qawmi madrashas
of Bangladesh and discuses curriculum of Arabic language. The paper also
hints at the current challenges of Arabic teaching-learning processes and
finally, proposes some suggestions to solve those obstacles. This article is
analytical and mostly follows the qualitative research method.
