Abstract

Abdalla Eltayeb is one of the most distinguished Arabic
encyclopedic scholars who served in all branches of Arabic
language. This study tries to shed light on his biography,
story, academic career and efforts in serving Arabic language
by answering certain questions: who is Abdalla Eltayeb? what
were his academic qualifications, and his contributions to the
field of Arabic language? The study reveals the significant
points of his life, for example, his family, joining the modern
educational system in Sudan and his study in Europe. His
exposure to European education system has a great impact on
his later career. Due to his liberal education in European
culture Abdalla Elatyeb was simultaneously conservative and
modern which is clearly seen in his ideology, writings and
research.
