Abstract

Al-Azhar University is the largest university in the world. It
represents the educational Qibla (direction) of Muslims. Al-
Azhar University inherited Al-Azhar Mosque, which dates
back to the Fatimid period, it was called al-Azhar mosque in
relation to Fatima al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her),
whom Fatimids belong to. During its long history, it has
remained a center of moderateness and mildness. It has been
spreading the Islamic culture, the teachings of Islam and the
value of forgiveness. It knows neither excesses, nor extremism
nor sectarian, and nor political intolerance.
Here are a large number of Bangladeshis, who have graduated
from Al-Azhar University and have an important role and great
contributions to the spread of learning Arabic and Ulumus
Sharia in the State of Bangladesh. Some of them have been
appointed as a teacher or lecturer in universities, colleges and
schools, and the most prominent Bangladeshi graduate is
Alauddin al-Azhari.
The researcher presents in the modest article, the contributions
of al-Azhar alumni to the spread of the Arabic language in the
country of Bangladesh in general and the contribution of
Alauddin al-Azhari in particular.
