Abstract

Abdullah bin Rawaha was one of the greatest companions of Rasulullah
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. He was known as a famous poet of Islamic
period and a significant figure of Muslim Military. He helped the
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam by fighting against the enemies of
Islam and writing poems against anti-Islamic poets. He wrote poetry in
period of Ignorance and Islam. He presented his poetic power in the time
of ignorance to show pride and enthusiasm for himself and his tribe as
well as the disclosure of the spelling and antiquity to his audience. But
after his entering in Islam he exposed his genius of poetry in support of
Islam and Muslims and defense of religion and Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. He was especially distinguished for his Islamic trends in poetic
objectivity by preserving the style, purity and essence of Arabic literature.
This article emphasizes the Islamic trends in the poetry of Abdullah bin
Rawaha through the analysis of poems written after entering in Islam. In
addition, a brief life sketch and the poetic genius of this prominent figure
with a reference to some features of his personality are also discussed in
this essay.
