Abstract

Al-Khansa is one of the prominent Arab poets who practiced
the poems in the period of ignorance and Islam. She wrote the
poetry on many contents from description, praise, pride and
lamentation. But she was famous in content of lamentation
because of her elegiac poetry for her two brothers named
“Moaawiya and Sakhr”. The most of her poetry revolves
around the lamentation of her two brothers in the period of pre-
Islam and Islam. She was unique in different character and
style for her writing poems particularly the elegiac verses for
two brothers. The Learners and readers realize the beauty and
charming of her poetry from their inner soul and on the other
hand, they feel sorrow and grief of her lamentation poems in
their deep heart. This article emphasizes on style, character and
charming of elegiac poetry of AL-Khansa through the analysis
of her poems. In addition, a brief life sketch and the poetic
genius of this prominent figure with a reference to some idea of
lamentation are also discussed in this essay.
