Abstract

The essay offers the sources and the definition of al-Adab ( .(الادب
The literary meaning of Adab is discussed here as invitation,
improvement of character, education, practice of art, culture,
writing etc. Whereas its terminological meaning is the cultural
expression of man, life and the earth. The source and the gradual
improvement of meaning from Jahiliyat ( جاھلیة ) to the present age
have been discussed here, even the definition of Islamic
Literature that is the new expression of Islamic feelings from the
core of heart. A materializing circumstance of a strong literary
movement has been widely discussed as the west was strongly
wounding the belief, ideology, history and glory of Islam of
every page of Islamic literature. Moreover, the necessity of
Islamic literature( الأدب الإسلامي ) has been upheld to keep the value
of literature, to make the strong link between readers’ beliefs and
literary feelings, to stand in the field of struggling against the
western sexual literature supporting the Islamic belief and aqidah
العقیدة) ). Indeed, the Islamic literature is the demand of the time as
the aim of Islamic literature is to build a new nation, to establish
a well-planned society, to give the world a clear and pure
literature. The Islamic literature also shows the worldly peace and
the salvation in hereafter to the reader. On the other hand the
western literature leads its reader to an opposite world.
